The Osun State Government has appointed Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, as Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.

The initiative aims to raise funds to transform the state’s sports sector and ensure sustainable development.

Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also serves as Commissioner for Sports, said the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is committed to overhauling sports infrastructure, starting with the ongoing renovation of Osogbo Township Stadium. The upgraded facility is expected to meet Olympic standards.

Adewusi added, “Plans are in advanced stages for the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will coordinate sports administration, development, and policy implementation.”

He explained that the Sports Trust Fund will attract support from philanthropists and investors, and noted that Davido’s involvement would help mobilize resources for the state’s sports initiatives.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to completing the stadium project, which is expected to host both national and international competitions.
