A man identified as Masahudu has been arrested for allegedly sneaking into a neighbour’s room to steal phones in Ikwa community, near Zuba, in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A resident, Dantani Ibrahim, said the suspect entered the room around 10:37 p.m. on Monday, where some tenants had kept their phones to charge during a power outage. He was spotted by a neighbour who raised the alarm.
The suspect, who attempted to flee, was caught and beaten by residents before vigilantes intervened.
A vigilante member, Garba Saleh, described Masahudu as a “notorious phone thief,” saying he was arrested just two days earlier in Unguwar London for a similar offence.
He was handed over to security operatives in Zuba, while the stolen phones were recovered and returned to their owners.
