An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti has sentenced 27-year-old Alex Peter to life imprisonment for armed robbery and nine years for conspiracy.
Peter was convicted of attacking commercial motorcyclist Augustine Steven on May 16, 2022, along NTA Road, Ado Ekiti, stealing his red Bajaj motorcycle (Reg. No. AMK 569 UJ) and ₦15,000 cash.
The victim told the court that Peter and an accomplice wielded a cutlass and an axe during the attack.
Peter was arrested three days later after the victim spotted him, and the stolen motorcycle was recovered from his home.
Justice Adekunle Adeleye said, “It is in evidence that the defendant himself confessed that he was one of the armed robbers. I find the defendant guilty as charged.”
In a separate case, Enugu State police have arrested 42-year-old Chinweuba Edeh for allegedly robbing a PoS operator of ₦70,000 at gunpoint. Investigation is ongoing.
