Two suspected hoodlums were beaten by a mob on Monday for allegedly stealing a bag of melon seeds at the Abaji main market in the FCT.
An eyewitness, Adamu Usman, said the suspects, who posed as touts, attempted to steal a trader’s bag of melon after hiding it within the market. They were caught when another trader noticed their suspicious movement and raised the alarm.
Before the vigilante group intervened, the mob had already descended on the suspects.
A vigilante member, Ibrahim Bala, said the stolen goods were recovered and the suspects were later released after the owner pleaded for mercy.
