Organisers of the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest have vowed to march to the Presidential Villa on Monday despite police warnings and a court order restricting demonstrations in the area.

The protest, led by activist Omoyele Sowore, seeks the release of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Police warned against gatherings near the Villa, National Assembly, and Eagle Square, citing security concerns, but Sowore said the march would hold “peacefully and lawfully,” adding that over 100 lawyers were ready to defend arrested protesters.

The U.S. Embassy issued an advisory warning of possible roadblocks and disruptions, while analysts described the protest as a test of Nigeria’s balance between rights and national security.
