Federal civil servants in Abuja have expressed anger and frustration after being denied access to their offices on Monday due to roadblocks mounted by security operatives during the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest.

The protest, demanding the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, led to the closure of major routes leading to the Federal Secretariat, leaving hundreds of workers stranded for hours.

“I spent over ₦1,000 from Kubwa just to get here, only to find everywhere blocked,” lamented a worker who spoke on condition of anonymity. “This has become a recurring issue. We should have been informed earlier.”

Another employee complained that such disruptions often affect productivity and deadlines. “Each time there’s a protest, it’s the same story, wasted time, wasted money,” he said.

Security operatives, including the Nigerian Police and Army, said the blockade was necessary to maintain order during the demonstration, which was reportedly led by activist Omoyele Sowore.

As of the time of filing this report, access to the Secretariat remained restricted, with workers calling for improved coordination and better communication between government offices and security agencies to prevent future disruptions.
