Following Monday’s #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja, scavengers were seen picking used teargas canisters around the Federal Ministry of Finance area to sell as scrap.
During a visit to some protest sites in the Central Area, the Abuja City Journal team interacted with one of the scavengers, who spoke anonymously.
He admitted not knowing the reason for the protest but expressed happiness, saying the recovered canisters would help him earn a living for the day.
“As I see all these things, I just pick them. I don’t know what is happening, but I’m happy because I will get small money from them,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, protesters had relocated to the Apo area of Abuja.
