The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned participants in the planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest to avoid vandalism and destruction of property.

In a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSC Monica Ojobi, the FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, urged demonstrators to comply with court directives governing the protest.

Odumosu stressed that while citizens have the right to peaceful assembly, any act of violence or damage to public or private property would be met with firm action.

“The Corps will not tolerate destruction or theft of critical infrastructure under the guise of protest,” he said.

He assured residents that personnel have been deployed across the FCT to protect lives, property, and key installations, adding that officers were instructed to act professionally and avoid intimidating peaceful protesters.

Odumosu, however, warned that anyone attempting to hijack the protest for criminal purposes would be promptly apprehended.
