Harry Maguire’s late header secured a 2-1 victory for Manchester United over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, ending the Reds’ four-game losing streak and giving United their first win at the ground in nearly a decade.
Cameroon star Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring just two minutes in, racing past Virgil van Dijk before slotting home from Amad Diallo’s pass.
Cody Gakpo levelled for Liverpool in the 78th minute from Federico Chiesa’s low cross, but United struck again six minutes later as Maguire rose unmarked to head in Bruno Fernandes’s delivery.
The win handed manager Ruben Amorim back-to-back league victories for the first time, with Liverpool now fourth on 15 points and United ninth with 13.
