HXafrica, through its Real Estate Investment Cooperative (REICo), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO), to promote economic empowerment and sustainable development among Abuja’s indigenous communities.
The partnership aims to establish a cooperative society that will drive enterprise growth, financial inclusion, and poverty reduction in line with government development goals.
Speaking at the MoU signing, Ugo Peters, CEO of HXafrica, said the initiative reflects the company’s “people-before-profit” philosophy and long-term commitment to improving livelihoods through social impact projects.
“Our vision is to build a system that prioritises people, not just profits. This partnership will empower Abuja’s original inhabitants to participate actively in their economic growth,” Peters said.
HXafrica also runs the Free Bus Initiative, which has served over 19,000 commuters since March, saving residents more than ₦9.6 million in transportation costs.
AOIYEO Executive Director, Isaac David, hailed the collaboration as a “deliverance day” for indigenous communities, announcing plans to establish a microfinance bank to fund small businesses and strengthen community-led development.
Stakeholders at the event lauded the initiative, describing it as a major step toward job creation, capacity building, and inclusive prosperity across the FCT.
