The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports claiming that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders are urging him to contest the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement on Saturday, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, described the reports as “fabricated stories from idle minds” aimed at stirring political drama.
He reaffirmed Wike’s loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, saying, “As far as Wike is concerned, it is President Tinubu till 2031.”
Olayinka clarified that the alleged PDP meeting where Wike was reportedly endorsed never took place, explaining that the only gathering held on August 20, 2025, involved southern PDP stakeholders discussing zoning arrangements.
He said the story was a “mischievous recycling of old facts” meant to mislead the public, stressing that Wike remains focused on advancing Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and transforming Abuja into a world-class capital.
