Two men were killed on Thursday morning when a container-laden trailer fell on a tricycle along the Owerri-Onitsha expressway in Anambra State.

The accident, which occurred around 8:20 a.m., happened as the trailer tried to navigate a bad section of the road.

The container reportedly detached and crashed onto the tricycle carrying four passengers.

Two died on the spot, while two others escaped unhurt.

Eyewitnesses blamed the crash on the poor condition of the road.

FRSC Sector Commander, Bridget Asekhauno, confirmed the incident, saying officials from the Upper Iweka Outpost and the Police responded swiftly to clear the wreckage and restore traffic.

She noted that both vehicles lacked registration numbers, complicating identification.

Asekhauno urged motorists, particularly heavy-duty drivers, to exercise caution on dilapidated routes to prevent further tragedies.
