The Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight suspected cultists and armed robbers during a dawn raid on a criminal hideout in Odogunyan, Ikorodu.
The operation, conducted around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday by operatives of the Bullock Tactical Team, followed credible intelligence reports.
The suspects, Fadiya Ayodele (27), Lawal Rasheed (28), Akerele Demilare (27), Alimi Victor (23), Okiki Alufoge (25), Nurudeen Dolapo (25), Agboola Samuel (25), and Ayolade Victor (25), were found with a military camouflage uniform, battle axe, assault dagger, charms, and fake U.S. dollar notes worth $3,000.
Police said Ayodele confessed to leading the Eiye Confraternity in the area and admitted to handing a locally made pistol to one Adewunmi Annadex, who remains at large.
The Command assured that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover the firearm, reiterating its resolve to stamp out cultism and violent crimes in Lagos.
