The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), has informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu’s health condition is not life-threatening.

The announcement came Thursday during proceedings before Justice James Omotosho.

The NMA panel was set up following conflicting medical reports from the Department of State Services (DSS) and Kanu’s defence team.

The panel’s report, submitted on October 13, confirmed that Kanu is fit to stand trial. Relying on the findings, Justice Omotosho granted Kanu six consecutive days, starting October 23, to open and close his defence.

The court also approved a private consultation between Kanu and his legal team on October 22, within the courtroom, to ensure discussions are free from DSS monitoring.

The substantive trial will resume on October 23.
