The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has urged all accredited tertiary institutions to update and upload students’ records on its verification portal ahead of the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement on Thursday, NELFUND spokesperson Oseyemi Oluwatuyi said the move would ensure a smooth verification and loan application process when the portal opens.
Institutions were directed to accurately upload each student’s data using admission numbers or other verifiable identifiers.
Oluwatuyi emphasized that only students whose details are uploaded and verified will be eligible for the loan scheme.
He appealed for prompt compliance, urging schools to designate officers to oversee the exercise.
“This collaboration is key to ensuring that no eligible student is left behind,” the statement read.
NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability through the Student Loan Access System (SLAS), which automates verification and loan disbursement once records are confirmed.
