Former PDP chieftain and Ovation magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, has urged opposition parties to unite and adopt what he called an “ethnic and religious strategy” to stand a chance against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

In a post on X, Momodu said no Southern candidate, including former President Goodluck Jonathan or Labour Party’s Peter Obi, could defeat Tinubu if they contest independently.

He advised the opposition to form a broad coalition, proposing a Northern Muslim presidential candidate with a Southern Christian running mate to counter Tinubu’s likely Muslim/Muslim ticket.

Momodu expressed worry over Nigeria’s drift toward a one-party state, citing recent defections of PDP governors to the APC, but maintained that “the game is not over” if the opposition acts decisively.
