Former House of Representatives member from Bayelsa State, Israel Sunny-Goli, has urged ex-President Goodluck Jonathan not to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Sunny-Goli said Jonathan’s return could threaten political stability and deepen divisions within his party and the nation.
He advised the former president to remain a statesman and mentor to younger politicians, noting that “Jonathan has already made his mark in Nigeria’s political history.”
Although Jonathan has not declared interest, Sunny-Goli’s remarks add to the ongoing debate over a possible 2027 comeback.
