The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), has attributed the delay in soldiers’ Ration Cash Allowance (RCA), payments to financial system glitches, dismissing claims that field commanders are hoarding funds.

Maj.-Gen. Magnus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, clarified during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday that no commander would intentionally withhold troops’ entitlements.

He explained that the delays, reported by troops under Operations Fasan Yamma and Whirl Stroke, were due to technical issues within the payment system, not negligence.

“Delays of a day or two can happen due to transaction hitches, but all allowances will be paid,” Kangye assured. “No field commander would allow his soldiers to go hungry or demoralized.”

He likened the problem to ordinary banking delays, emphasizing that the military remains committed to troop welfare despite system challenges.
