A Customs officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC), Lawal Tukur, was found dead in a Katsina hotel room on Wednesday, October 15.
The incident occurred at Murjani Hotel, where Tukur had checked in the previous night. Hotel staff discovered his lifeless body around 8:30 a.m. and alerted authorities.
Sources said three women, Khadija Ali, 34, from Dutsin Maare; Aisha Lawal, 30, from Ingawa LGA; and Hafsat Yusuf, 22, from Kano State, were present in the room. Khadija and Aisha reportedly spent the night with Tukur, while Hafsat joined later.
Empty sachets of unidentified substances were found in a wastebasket inside the room.
The officer’s body was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina, for confirmation of death before being moved to the mortuary for autopsy.
The Nigeria Customs Service has been notified, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
