Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has mocked governors and leaders who once criticised him for allegedly working for the APC but have now defected from the PDP to the ruling party.
Speaking on Wednesday at the flag-off of the Outer Southern Expressway in Abuja, Wike said, “All of them are now in the APC. So, if it’s true I was working for APC, then they should commend me for doing a good job.”
He made the remarks as Enugu Governor Peter Mbah and Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri, alongside 19 Bayelsa lawmakers, recently dumped the PDP for the APC, reducing the opposition party’s governors from 11 to eight.
Wike also commended President Bola Tinubu for prudent economic leadership, noting that states now receive enough funds to pay salaries and execute projects without borrowing.
“No governor will leave debts for his successor anymore. That’s the kind of leadership this country needs,” he said.
