The Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army has concluded a two-day field training exercise on ambush and anti-ambush tactics to boost security in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and adjoining border communities.

Held at General O. A. Azazi Barracks, Gwagwalada, and along the Rafin Zurfi-Ibua axis, the exercise aimed to enhance troops’ tactical readiness against emerging security threats.

Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Adebisi Onasanya, said the training aligns with the directives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, who prioritises realistic and continuous drills to improve operational efficiency.

According to the Brigade’s spokesperson, Capt. Odunola Olawuyi, the exercise featured tactical manoeuvres, counter-ambush drills, and simulated rescue operations, all designed to reinforce soldiers’ combat readiness.

The Guards Brigade, responsible for protecting the Presidential Villa and key national assets, said the exercise reflects its proactive efforts to secure Abuja and neighbouring states against rising security threats.
