Awareness campaigns promoting the use of locally available food sources have helped reduce infant malnutrition across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to Mrs. Naomi Iliya, Focal Person for Routine Immunisation at the Mabushi Primary Health Care Centre.
She made this known during a field visit by journalists undergoing training on Nutrition and Food Systems Reporting, organised by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), and Nigeria Health Watch in Abuja.
Iliya said mothers are now adopting local foods such as millet, soybeans, and vegetables to prepare nutritious meals, following sensitisation on proper feeding practices and exclusive breastfeeding.
