Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports that he boycotted the recent Council of State meeting over the nomination of Prof. Joash Amupitan as INEC Chairman.

Speaking on Tuesday during the commissioning of Access Roads in Dakibiyu District, Abuja, Wike said he had informed President Bola Tinubu of his absence due to prior official engagements and delegated the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, to represent him.

“I told Mr President I would not be available because of other engagements, so the Honourable Minister of State represented the FCT,” he clarified.

Wike described the reports as “unnecessary propaganda and blackmail,” reaffirming his loyalty to President Tinubu and crediting the administration’s leadership for ongoing development in the FCT.
