The Labour Party (LP), has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to release the access code for uploading its candidates’ names ahead of the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Area Council elections.

LP National Chairman Julius Abure made the appeal on Tuesday during a consultative meeting between INEC and political party leaders in Abuja.

Abure, accompanied by National Secretary Umar Farouk Ibrahim, reaffirmed his leadership of the party and warned that withholding the code could exclude LP from the polls despite meeting all legal requirements.

He congratulated acting INEC Chairman Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu on her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to uphold fairness and credibility in the electoral process.

INEC reportedly assured the LP delegation that the issue would be reviewed.
