The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Prof. Tunji Olaopa, has called for a comprehensive review of the civil service disciplinary system to promote culture change, value reorientation, and faster resolution of disciplinary cases.

In a statement by the FCSC’s Head of Press, Taiwo Hassan, Olaopa made the call during a joint retreat between the commission and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF).

He stressed the need for better coordination between both institutions, describing them as “Siamese twins” with interlinked responsibilities that sometimes cause operational conflicts.

Olaopa said the retreat aimed to strengthen collaboration, communication, and problem-solving while aligning merit-based recruitment, performance management, and pay structures to rebuild public trust.

Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, represented by Esther Walson-Jack, commended the FCSC’s reforms, including Computer-Based Tests for promotions and merit-driven recruitment, as steps toward transparency and efficiency.
