An Abuja-based journalist, Salis Muhammad Manaja, a staff member of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential has been abducted while travelling from Ebonyi State to Kwara State for the company’s annual Young Communication Fellowship programme.
Manaja, fondly called “Oga Manager,” embarked on the trip on Saturday but was declared missing after colleagues could not reach him by phone. His abduction came to light on Monday when co-workers raised the alarm on social media.
A colleague, Abdulrasheed Kofa, described him as a dedicated multimedia journalist and called for prayers for his safe return. Another associate, Nuhu Masa, confirmed that all efforts to contact Manaja had failed.
Security expert Zagazola Makama revealed via X that the kidnappers had contacted Manaja’s family and were demanding ransom, though the exact location of the incident remains unclear.
Human rights activist Umar Umar condemned the abduction, describing it as another reminder of worsening insecurity on Nigeria’s highways, and urged authorities to act swiftly.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer and PRNigeria for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
