Cape Verde have made history by qualifying for their first-ever FIFA World Cup after defeating Eswatini 3-0 in Praia.
Goals from Dailon Livramento, Willy Semedo, and veteran defender Stopira sealed victory for the Blue Sharks, who topped their group ahead of African giants Cameroon.
The win sparked jubilant celebrations at the 15,000-capacity National Stadium, marking a landmark moment for the island nation of just over 500,000 people.
Cape Verde, who gained independence from Portugal in 1975, have impressed in recent years, reaching the AFCON quarter-finals in 2013 and 2023.
With this feat, the Blue Sharks become the second-smallest nation ever to qualify for the World Cup, after Iceland in 2018.
