Veteran activist and Secretary of the Joint Action Front (JAF), Abiodun Aremu, has died after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Ota, Ogun State.
Aremu, 65, was crossing the road around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday when the driver knocked him down and fled. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but later confirmed dead.
Confirming the incident, former NLC scribe Owei Lakemfa described Aremu as “one of the greatest revolutionaries of our time,” noting that he would be buried on October 23 in Ota.
Lakemfa said the burial was shifted from October 13 to allow for wider mobilisation.
He urged Nigerians to honour Aremu’s memory by continuing his struggle for social justice and workers’ rights.
