The Federal Government has warned the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that it will enforce the no-work-no-pay policy if lecturers proceed with their planned strike.
In a statement by the Ministry of Education spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, on Sunday night, the government said it remains open to dialogue but will not condone disruptions in the academic calendar.
ASUU had declared a nationwide warning strike starting Monday, October 13, to press for the implementation of the 2009 FGN-ASUU agreement, payment of withheld salaries, and improved university funding.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare and education reform under the Renewed Hope Agenda, urging ASUU to embrace dialogue over confrontation.
