The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has vowed to restore and protect green spaces across Abuja, warning developers against violating landscaping and environmental regulations.

Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, said during a monitoring exercise on Tuesday that enforcement has intensified to stop illegal developments on designated green areas and preserve Abuja’s master plan.

“The FCTA will not allow individuals or corporate bodies to distort the original design of the city.

“Landscaping is a mandatory requirement in all approved development plans, and violations will attract sanctions, including demolition,” Galadima warned.

Inspections in districts such as Wuse, Maitama, Garki, and Asokoro revealed widespread conversion of green areas into parking lots and commercial spaces.

The FCTA is working with the Parks and Recreation Department, the Abuja Environmental Protection Board, and the Urban and Regional Planning Department to ensure coordinated enforcement.

Galadima said efforts are ongoing to demolish illegal structures built on green belts and open spaces, urging residents to support government efforts to maintain Abuja as a green and orderly city.
