Security operatives at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, Lagos, have arrested several passengers found with over $6.1 million in cash while attempting to board an Aero Contractors flight.

The suspects, reportedly young men acting on behalf of a politically exposed person, were intercepted by Aviation Security (AVSEC), officials at the domestic wing of the airport and later transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for investigation.

Airport sources confirmed the seizure, though details of the operation remain sketchy.

Efforts to obtain comments from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), were unsuccessful as its spokesperson, Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, had yet to respond to inquiries at press time.
