Nigeria’s crude oil production fell by 3% in September 2025, dropping to 1.58 million barrels per day (bpd), from 1.63 million bpd in August, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The Commission attributed the decline to a three-day strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), which disrupted several production and export facilities. Scheduled maintenance at two major sites also contributed to the drop.

NUPRC spokesperson Eniola Akinkuotu said average crude production, excluding condensates, stood at 1.39 million bpd-below Nigeria’s OPEC quota of 1.5 million bpd.

Despite the month-on-month fall, total crude and condensate output rose 1.6% year-on-year to 47.43 million barrels in September.

Forcados Blend accounted for the highest share of production at 15.9%, followed by Bonny Light (13.3%) and Qua Iboe (9.9%).
