The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has introduced a Post-Amnesty Voluntary Return and Documentation Programme (PAVRDP), for foreign nationals who failed to regularise their stay or exit Nigeria during the Expired Visa Initiative, which ended on September 30.
In a statement on Friday, the NIS said the programme, beginning October 13, will allow affected foreigners to voluntarily report and regularise their status by presenting themselves at the nearest Immigration Command.
Each case will be assessed individually in line with the Immigration Act, 2015.
The Service warned that defaulters who fail to report will be arrested, detained, and deported, with long-term entry bans applied.
It also cautioned individuals and organisations against aiding illegal immigrants, reiterating its commitment to humane and orderly migration management in line with national security goals.
