The Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS), has said its operatives assisted the police in arresting suspects connected to the killing of Arise News staff member, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, during a robbery in Abuja.
Assistant Commander General of NFSS (North Central), Abdulhakeem Ibrahim, told journalists on Saturday that the arrests followed a joint operation targeting a gang terrorising Zuba and nearby communities.
The FCT Police Command had earlier confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects in connection with the attack at Unique Apartment, Gishiri Village, Katampe District.
Ibrahim said the gang was intercepted at a checkpoint manned by NFSS operatives under police directives, leading to the arrest of one suspect and recovery of arms, including an AK-47, a pump-action gun, and a Beretta pistol.
He praised the collaboration between the NFSS and the police, calling for legal recognition and government support to enhance the agency’s operations.
