Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has described girls as “treasures, changemakers, and better leaders,” calling for deliberate efforts to protect and empower the girl child.

In a statement to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, Dr. Soludo urged families, schools, and communities to create supportive environments for girls to thrive.

“Girls are treasures, unique, intelligent, and beautiful. Any society that wants to grow must acknowledge their uniqueness and protect them,” she said.

She noted that while progress has been made in promoting gender equality, more work remains to be done.

Dr. Soludo also highlighted state initiatives supporting girls and women, including free antenatal and delivery services, free public education, and improved healthcare access.

“For every girl child, we do even more because to be a girl is to be super special,” she added, celebrating girls as key drivers of change in society.
