ARISE News Announces Burial Arrangements for Late Anchor Somto Maduagwu

ARISE News has announced the burial arrangements for its late anchor and producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who was killed during a robbery attack in Abuja on September 29, 2025.

According to the station, an evening of tributes will hold on Sunday, October 12, at the THISDAY Dome, Abuja, followed by a service of songs on Wednesday, October 15, at Corpus Christi Cathedral, Port Harcourt.

The funeral mass will take place at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Agulu, Anambra State, on Saturday, October 18, after which she will be laid to rest.

Maduagwu, 29, was a lawyer, model, and journalist before her untimely death alongside a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, during the attack at her Katampe residence in Abuja.

The FCT Police Command has arrested 12 suspects linked to the incident. Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said the gang obtained weapons from a supplier in the Niger Republic and has confessed to the crime.

Tributes have continued to pour in for Maduagwu, described by colleagues and viewers as a brilliant and fearless journalist whose legacy will endure in the Nigerian media industry.
