The Cheetahs of Benin Republic have arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, ahead of Tuesday’s decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The team landed at the Victor Attah International Airport on Saturday after boosting their qualification hopes with a 1-0 away win over Rwanda on Friday, taking their tally to 17 points.

Benin need only a draw to seal their first-ever World Cup ticket, while Nigeria, with 14 points after defeating Lesotho 2-1 in Polokwane, must win by at least two goals and hope South Africa fail to beat Rwanda.

The reverse fixture ended 2-1 in favour of Benin in Abidjan.

Both teams also met in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, where Nigeria triumphed 3-0 in Uyo before a 1-1 draw in Abidjan.
