Over 3,000 members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Thursday staged a protest at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) headquarters in Abuja over the withdrawal of the Council’s registration certificate.
The protesters accused the Registrar-General of CAC, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji (SAN), of acting in contempt of court and undermining President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, alleging that the delisting came despite a pending appeal case.
Addressing journalists, NYCN Secretary-General, Barr. Abubakar Suleiman, described the move as “unlawful and arbitrary,” insisting that the Federal High Court had earlier ruled that CAC lacked the authority to delist the body.
He said, “The Registrar-General has disregarded court orders by withdrawing our certificate and appointing a caretaker committee. This is an assault on justice and due process.”
Suleiman vowed that nationwide protests would continue until the Registrar-General is removed, alleging irregularities and abuse of power within the Commission.
