The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has awarded postgraduate scholarships to 600 students from the Niger Delta region under its Local Postgraduate Scholarship Programme aimed at boosting educational development in the area.
The award ceremony, held at the Aztech Arcum Event Centre in Port Harcourt, marks the maiden edition of the local postgraduate scholarship initiative introduced by the Commission.
According to the NDDC, the scheme seeks to empower talented but indigent youths across the region and enhance their capacity to contribute to national development.
Beneficiaries and education stakeholders have commended the transparency of the selection process, describing the initiative as a credible step toward improving access to quality education in the Niger Delta.
The Commission noted that the scholarship programme forms part of its broader efforts to build human capital and promote sustainable development within the oil-producing communities.
