Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to equality and compassion, saying he would never look down on any Nigerian regardless of class or social status.
Obi made the statement on Wednesday via X (formerly Twitter) in response to recent remarks describing some of his supporters as “street urchins” and “low-class Nigerians.”
He described such comments as insensitive, stressing that his politics is rooted in empathy and inclusion, not elitism. “I have never, and will never, look down on anyone except to lift them up. We can only rise by lifting others,” he stated.
The former Anambra governor said his political vision focuses on creating opportunities for the common man through education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
“True leadership is not about ridiculing the weak but about supporting and empowering them,” Obi added, reaffirming his resolve to promote dignity, fairness, and social justice for all Nigerians.
