The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has disowned a sit-at-home order reportedly declared by some pro-Biafra elements ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election.
In a statement on Wednesday, MASSOB leader Uchenna Madu described those behind the order as “disgruntled elements sponsored to create political instability in Igboland,” insisting that the group would not allow such deceit to succeed.
He said MASSOB had begun sensitising residents and members of other pro-Biafra groups to participate peacefully in the election, assuring that the poll would hold as scheduled.
Madu urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to proceed without distraction, stressing that a credible and peaceful election was vital to Anambra’s stability and Igbo political interest.
He added that supporting the election did not mean abandoning the Biafra struggle but prioritising the collective interest of Ndigbo.
