INTERPOL has arrested a Nigerian national, Ikechukwu N., in Argentina for allegedly masterminding global romance scams and leading an international cybercrime network.
The agency confirmed on Tuesday that Argentina’s Federal Police captured Ikechukwu, marking the country’s first arrest of a fugitive listed under both INTERPOL’s Red and Silver Notices.
Ikechukwu was wanted for orchestrating multiple online scams targeting thousands of women worldwide. His arrest was made under Operation Jackal, a global crackdown on West African organized crime groups.
The development follows recent arrests of Nigerians abroad linked to cybercrime, including Chinomnso Ochie and Theophilus Anwana, earlier detained by U.S. authorities.
