The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has extended the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), by four days.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, said the exercise initially slated to end on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 will now continue until Sunday, October 12, 2025.

INEC said the extension followed a review of progress during its Third Quarterly Meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners and was aimed at accommodating the increasing turnout of eligible voters across the FCT.

As of October 7, the commission recorded 55,346 new registrations, including 38,528 online pre-registrations and 16,818 completed physical registrations.

INEC urged eligible residents to take advantage of the extension and warned against multiple registrations, stressing that such acts are punishable under the law.

The commission reaffirmed that the FCT Area Council elections will hold on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
