Nigerian forward Akor Adams scored, while compatriot Chidera Ejuke provided an assist as Sevilla thrashed Barcelona 4-1 in their La Liga encounter on Sunday.
Adams, recently invited by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin, sealed the emphatic win with Sevilla’s fourth goal in the 98th minute, finishing off a fine assist from Ejuke.
The goal was Adams’ second of the season in six appearances, while Ejuke’s assist was his first in four games for the Andalusian club.
Sevilla dominated from the onset, racing to a 2-0 lead in the first half. A brief spark from Pedri and Marcus Rashford saw Barcelona pull one back, but the champions struggled to regain control.
Lewandowski’s missed penalty in the second half compounded Barca’s woes, as Sevilla struck twice more to complete a resounding victory and hand the Catalans one of their heaviest defeats of the season.
