The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has formally declared his ambition to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, declaring that it is now his turn to lead after years of political experience and public service.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Adelabu confidently stated, “It’s my turn to be the governor of Oyo State.” Borrowing from President Bola Tinubu’s popular slogan “Emi Lokan” (It’s my turn), the minister said he believes his moment has come, emphasizing that he has “paid his dues” in both politics and governance.

Speaking at a public event, Adelabu reflected on his previous governorship bids in 2019 and 2023, saying those experiences have better prepared him for the task ahead.

He noted that transforming Oyo State requires unity and collaboration among party members and supporters, urging them to work together toward victory in 2027.

Adelabu’s renewed ambition has already stirred political discussions, with analysts suggesting that his return to the race could alter the internal dynamics within the All Progressives Congress (APC), especially after his brief stint with the Accord Party before rejoining the APC.

With Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), currently serving his second and final term, the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State promises to be an open and fiercely contested race.
