The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the rehabilitation of 40 additional schools across the territory, shortly after launching construction of the Transit Way (N2) road project linking Wuse District to the Central Area of Abuja.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on Friday, Wike said the road project, which includes two new bridges, is aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity within the city.

He noted that the fresh round of school rehabilitations will add to over 70 ongoing education projects, of which 45 have already been completed and furnished.

According to him, education remains a priority alongside road and healthcare development.

“We are going to start again the total rehabilitation of not less than 40 schools after this road flag-off.

“Education is also something we must give priority to,” the Minister said.

Wike explained that the projects are in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes balanced development across sectors.

He added that improved infrastructure is key to attracting investors, citing a Dubai developer’s plan to replicate the iconic City Walk in Abuja as proof of growing confidence in the capital.

The Minister disclosed that project flag-offs and commissioning will continue until October 20, with additional critical infrastructure projects scheduled for inauguration from November.

Also speaking, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, described the Transit Way project as a significant step in enhancing mobility and urban development.

She commended the National Assembly for sustained budgetary support and said the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is already delivering visible benefits to Abuja residents.
