The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the NWFL Nationwide will take place at the Bwari Township Stadium, Abuja, from October 10 to 17, with ten clubs vying for promotion in Nigeria’s women’s football pyramid.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 1, the league’s Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, unveiled the updated kickoff date, host venue, and fixtures. She described the Nationwide as a vital platform for emerging clubs to prove their quality and climb the ranks of women’s football in the country.
According to her, the competition underscores the league’s commitment to transparency, competitiveness, and growth of the game.
The schedule shows that teams will arrive in Abuja on October 10, with a pre-match technical meeting slated for the same day.
Matches will hold on October 11, 13, 14, 16, and 17, while October 12 and 15 are designated rest days.
Shabi explained that the two highest-ranked teams from each group will earn promotion to the NWFL Championship, describing the incentive as a key motivation for participating clubs.
She expressed confidence that the week-long contest will not only produce thrilling encounters but also spotlight the development of women’s football in the Federal Capital Territory.
The eight-day tournament is expected to attract attention as teams battle for both immediate success and long-term advancement within the national league structure.
