President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country is steadily regaining control over its security challenges, affirming that ongoing military operations are delivering tangible victories against terrorists, separatists, and armed criminal groups.

In his Independence Day address on Wednesday, the President commended the dedication and sacrifices of Nigeria’s security forces, noting that their relentless campaigns have restored relative calm to territories once plagued by violence.

According to him, the courage of soldiers and other security operatives has been instrumental in dismantling Boko Haram strongholds in the North-East, neutralising separatist violence in the South-East, and curbing banditry and kidnappings across the North-West.

“We are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes,” Tinubu declared. “The victories we see today were purchased with the blood, sweat, and determination of our gallant officers. Their courage has reclaimed peace for hundreds of communities and allowed displaced citizens to return to their homes.”

The President also linked improvements in security to wider economic progress, stressing that stability is enabling safer conditions for farming, investment, and trade in previously volatile regions.

While acknowledging that sporadic attacks persist in some areas, Tinubu insisted that the momentum has shifted in Nigeria’s favour, adding that the resilience of the armed forces continues to weaken the hold of insurgents and criminals.
