President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Tuesday visit Owerri, the Imo State capital, for the launch of a book in his honour, with Governor Hope Uzodimma playing host.

The visit, following similar engagements in Kaduna and Ibadan, is seen as part of the President’s effort to strengthen his connection with the South East and reaffirm his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.

During his stay, Tinubu is expected to highlight federal projects in the region, including the Second Niger Bridge, rehabilitation of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, and key road upgrades linking Imo to neighbouring states.

Governor Uzodimma has also rolled out infrastructure and human capital programmes in Imo, such as urban renewal, agricultural reforms, and the SkillUpImo digital training initiative that has empowered over 40,000 youths.

Owerri, known as the “Eastern Heartland,” holds symbolic weight as the last capital of Biafra during the civil war and a present-day hub of commerce, culture, and education in the South East.

The visit is expected to strengthen the political alliance between Tinubu and Uzodimma while signaling renewed partnership between the Federal Government and the South East.
