An international non-governmental organization, ProFuturo, in collaboration with ‘The Kukah Centre’, has trained 14 Nigerians drawn from various parts of the country in digital skills to strengthen the educational system.
The five-day intensive training, held at ProFuturo’s headquarters in Madrid, Spain, was designed to equip participants with digital knowledge and resources aimed at bridging educational gaps in Nigeria, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
Speaking at the opening, Ms. Magdalena Brier, Managing Director of ProFuturo International, urged the participants to maximize the opportunity by learning and engaging actively in order to make meaningful impacts in the lives of children across Nigeria.
She commended ‘The Kukah Centre’ for its sustained partnership over the past five years and expressed optimism for deeper collaboration in the future.
One of the participants, Benjamin Okpe, described the training as highly educative and impactful, noting that it focused on newly introduced digital platforms, modules, and mathematics.
He explained that the essence of the program was to better understand the platforms, their content, and how they can benefit both pupils and teachers.
“We are now better equipped as custodians of knowledge to train teachers in our regions so that the project’s objectives, bridging the educational gap in disadvantaged areas can be fully achieved,” he said.
Another participant, Doreen Ajanii, emphasized the foundation’s global impact, highlighting its contribution to quality education in places such as Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
“Attending this training in Madrid has given us new skills, especially with the offline learning tools, which will make it easier to improve education in Nasarawa and ensure the goals of the ProFuturo Foundation are met,” she added.
At the close of the training, participants were presented with essential tools for their work, including brand-new laptops, hard drives, T-shirts, and bags.
In his remarks, Dr. Emmanuel Nkanta, Project Manager of ProFuturo in Nigeria, expressed gratitude to the organizers and reaffirmed the Nigerian team’s commitment to ensuring that the program’s goals are fully realized.
“We will do our best to achieve the set objectives and contribute meaningfully to global educational development,” he assured.
